Amerika, 1927. Charles Lindbergh droomt ervan ooit de Atlantische Oceaan over te steken in een vliegtuig. Charles is er van overtuigd dat het een haalbaar plan is, op voorwaarde dat het met een eenmotorig vliegtuigje kan. Met deze informatie stapt hij naar bankiers en financiers en slaagt erin om 15.000 dollar te verzamelen, de som om een pluimgewichtsvliegtuigje te bouwen. Negentig dagen later neemt Charles Lindbergh plaats in de cockpit van 'The Spirit of St. Louis' en start zijn avontuurlijke reis met bestemming Le Bourget in Frankrijk.
